Background: Cross Academy is attended by two groups of students: the Day Class and the Night Class. At twilight, when the students of the Day Class return to their dorm, they cross paths with the Night Class on their way to school. Yuuki Cross and Kiryuu Zero are the guardians of the school, there to protect the Day Class from the academy's dark secret: the Night Class is full of vampires. — from Viz
After the death of the pureblood woman who killed Zero's parents, it becomes more and more clear to the pureblood Kaname that some sinister unknown faction is manipulating vampire and human destiny from the shadows. This very powerful enemy Kaname vows to eliminate, to protect the only person dear to him, Yuuki.
Yuuki's recurring nightmarish flashbacks make her want to regain her lost memories, and investigate the events of 10 years ago. A visit to the Association's library, that chronicles the extensive history of the war between the vampires and the vampire hunters, promises some answers.
Zero, temporarily cured from the fate of becoming an out of control Level E vampire, continues to care for and protect Yuuki, and is well aware of the foreboding signs of a soon to occur showdown between the vampire factions.
